Design and development using latest CAD software

We have a design office with qualified personnel who enable us to produce tailor made drawings and ensure cost efficiency with every job. We make use of the latest 3D CAD software to design as well as the latest Sigmanest software which is a leading CAD/CAM system for programming multi torch profile & plasma cutting systems.

Profile and Plasma cutting

  • BMS has a profile and plasma cutting division. All jobs are completed using the latest Sigmanest nesting software which is prepared in our drawing office.
  • Our equipment comprises of the following:
    • Multi head magic eye profile cutter: 6m x 2.5m effective cutting
    • Multi head CNC plasma/ profile combination 6m x 2.5m effective cutting
    • Multi head CNC plasma/ scriber / profile combination 6m x 2.5m effective cutting

We stock a large range of plates ranging from 1mm to 50mm, which enables us to supply our customers with the best turnaround times possible.

Extrusion

Bates Mining Specialists manufacture Blasting Barricades for many of the major mining houses. Barricades are manufactured to customer specifications and are extruded from both recycled and virgin LDPE and HDPE. Barricades can be supplied in both "gate" type and loose pipe. The thick walled pipes are extruded at our Klerksdorp factory. The sizes range from 32mm diameter to 150mm diameter. We have the facilities, equipment and expertise to extrude in excess of 160 000kg monthly and produce in excess of 200 blast barricades daily.

Currently we supply blast barricades to many of the mining houses. We have also invested in plant and equipment which allows us to offer HDPE water piping to our clients. The HDPE pipe can be extruded from either recycled HDPE or from PE 100.

Fabrication

BMS specialises in the design and development of products for the mining industry. All of our fabrication takes place at our 9000m2 premises in Klerksdorp. We have fully equipped workshops with a wide range of machinery to enable us to meet every customer expectation.

Our Company Profile

Established in 1990, Bates Mining is a BEE rated manufacturing organisation specialising in the supply of products to the mining industry.

The company comprises of two divisions. The one division consists of four major extrusion lines, producing thick walled pipe for the manufacture of Blast Barricades. The other division has a fully equipped workshop for light to medium fabrication and engineering.

We pay special attention to our customer's needs, and together design and develop products and solutions. We pride ourselves by being able to provide our customers with price competitive quality products in the best turn-around time possible.

Another fast emerging market within our organisation is sourcing solutions for our customers. If we cannot manufacture it, we can source it. With this philosophy we have managed to partner with locally and internationally recognised brands, supplying their products through our extensive networks into the mining industry.
